As you can appreciate sometimes there will be emergencies or complex issues that require our immediate attention. This may result in delays. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. In such circumstances our receptionists will endeavour to keep you informed.

Waterford GP Care Did not attend (DNA) Policy

Waterford GP Care is committed to ensuring that the best possible service is provided to all patients. We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to get an appointment. However, one thing that makes this increasingly difficult is the problem of missed appointments i.e., DNAs.  Patient non-attendance at a booked appointment adversely impacts on patients who could have taken that appointment, increasing waiting times.

A DNA occurs when:

• An appointment is not attended
•  The patient has not contacted the Practice in advance to cancel it or
• Where the cancellation is so late that it makes it impossible to allocate that time to another patient.

Avoid becoming a DNA. If you cannot attend or no longer need an appointment, please let us know in advance. You can cancel an appointment by telephoning 051 852058 or by emailing waterfordgpcare@protonmail.com

We have implemented a two-strike policy.

Where this is the first occasion, a DNA alert is recorded in the Patient’s file and the patient is notified.

When there is a second DNA within a six-month period, the patient will be formally removed from the practice patient list.
