About Waterford GP Care

Waterford GP Care is a general medical practice based in Waterford city centre. Headed up by Dr Darach Brennan, Dr Annaliese O’Sullivan and Dr Mairead Brennan, it provides a wide range of GP services to people of all ages in the local community.

The practice is known for its caring manner and experienced team of doctors, nurses and support staff. It is also a GP training practice, attached to the Southeast Specialist Training Scheme in General Practice, and upholds high standards of quality and person-centred care.

The current GP registrar is Dr. David Cotter.

Meet the Team

Dr Darach Brennan

Dr Darach Brennan qualified from Trinity College Dublin before completing his GP training in 2001. He has lived and worked in Waterford since 2003. Dr Darach is passionate about educating the next generation of GPs, and is Scheme Director of the Southeast specialist training scheme in General Practice, where he has worked since 2006. He is experienced in all areas of General Practice and has a special interest and expertise in Men’s Health, Preventative Medicine, Musculoskeletal Medicine and Chronic Disease Management.

Dr Annaliese O’Sullivan

Dr. Annaliese O Sullivan joined the practice in 2005. She is a graduate of the RCSI. Prior to obtaining her membership from the ICGP, she also received an associate fellowship in surgery. She has a special interest in women's health including implanon and coil insertion. She also provides a minor operation service suitable to a general practice environment. She is committed to chronic disease management, with a particular focus on diabetes prevention and care. Dr. Annaliese has also taken on the role of becoming a GP trainer in the southeast training scheme, which is a wonderful way of addressing holistic care in general practice as well as ensuring evidence-based medicine is applied in a continuous manner in a GP setting.

Dr Mairead Brennan

Dr Mairead Brennan is originally from Kerry and a UCC graduate. She is a member of the Irish college of General practitioners and is also a GP trainer. She has a special interest in dermatology, diabetes, women's health and cardiology.

Dr Ruth Hallissey

Dr Ruth Hallissey qualified from University College Cork in 2009. After working in Australia, she returned home to complete her GP training on the South East GP Scheme between 2012 and 2016. Dr Hallissey joined the practice in 2020. She has a special interest in paediatrics, woman’s health, tropical and travel medicine.

Ciara Vereker

Ciara has been with the practice since 2019. She has a special interest in Wound Care and Palliative Care. Ciara provides phlebotomy services, wound management, diabetic care and vaccines. Ciara also performs ECG’s, ear irrigation and 24 hour blood pressure monitor applications plus an array of other services.

Tania Marques Rodrigues

Tania joined the practice in May 2023. She has a special in interest in Chronic Deisase Management and Palliative Care. She provides a range of nursing services including, wound care management, ECG's, 24 hr blood pressure monitoring and phlebotomy.

Our friendly and helpful team are multi-skilled and have a wealth of knowledge gained over many years of dealing with patients, doctors, nurses and our hospital colleagues. We are available to help and support our patients and their families at all times.

Our staff are on duty from 9am to 6pm every day, manning the phones, welcoming patients to the surgery, processing payments and dealing with day-to-day queries.  All of our admin staff are sensitive to the fact that your queries are important and will be treated with respect while always maintaining confidentiality.
